Denver Chooses Gingrich Over Santorum

GingrichManningSantorumTebo

@MileHighReport has this to say on the Denver Bronco acquisition of Peyton Manning perhaps replacing Tim Tebow as the starting quarterback:

I'm not a Tebow-hater because I think the Broncos will be a better team with Peyton Manning in 2012. I am fully prepared to support Tim Tebow if he is the starting quarterback. Many fans I have heard from feel the same.

It dawned on me this is the EXACT analogy we have have with Gingrich and Santorum.  Let’s look at the comparison of Manning and Tebow (both of whom happen to be Republicans by the way):

Yes, Manning is old and Tebow is young.  Yes, Manning will not talk about Jesus as much as Tim Tebow.  But the Denver Broncos are in the business of WINNING games and BEATING their opponents.

The best FOOTBALL arguments for Tebow is that he is a “leader” and a “winner.”  No one (in their right mind) argues that there is statistical evidence that he is a better quarterback than Manning.  For every 5 game comeback winning streak there is a 3 or 4 game loosing streak like going into the playoffs this past year.

It is one thing to get your team into the playoff’s one year and have a winning season.  It is another thing to CONSISTENTLY win over the course of 15 years.  Being the #1 QB of all time is a bit different than miraculously getting your team 1 win in the playoffs 1 year.  You can tell this perplexes MileHighReport:

There are Broncos fans that believe the Broncos would be better off with Tebow. I've talked to some of you, some that have been around MHR since the beginning - long before Tebow - so I know where your heart is. Those fans get swept into the void I talked about - not "Tebow-Fans", per se, but blasted by those that think Manning is the answer, or those that simply want anyone but Tebow. Get to know these guys and gals. Decide for yourself where people are coming from.

I defy anyone to look at the records of these two QB’s and not OBJECTIVELY say – based on past results – that Manning is a better risk than Tebow.  Like MHR says, where people are coming will prejudice their support.

Is this any different from the battle between Gingrich and Santorum supporters?

There simply is no OBJECTIVE evidence that Santorum can lead or succeed in the conservative big leagues?

Gingrich

Santorum

Won BOTH House and Senate for Republicans as Leaders in 1994 with controlling re-election through 1998. When promoted to Chairman of GOP Senate Committee (and #GOP leader) lost Senate and House.
GOPAC founder Pete DuPont entrusted entity to Ginrich who built it into an educational funding tool for conservatives that exist to this day. Facilitated financing of Freshman class of ‘94 which included Santorum. Founded his own PAC which only gave away a mind boggling 18% of it’s collections to other conservative races.
Spent his own money to promote and recruit Tea Party prior to his celebration at the FIRST Tea Party with Sean Hannity on 4/15/09. Only on record as criticizing libertarian arm of Tea Party while referencing support for Mitch McConnell RINO over Tea Party Rand Paul.
Spent own money fighting ObamaCare, TARP and Cap &Trade with numerous TV appearances,
op-ed pieces, speeches and position papers.
Claimed to be against all of these things AFTER they were decided with possibly 2 local interviews and PAID appearances as FOX contributor.
Lifetime American Conservative Union (ACU) rating of 90% Lifetime American Conservative Union (ACU) rating of 88%
Had affair on 2nd wife (who broke up his reportedly awful 1st marriage) after she moved out on his birthday. Fornicated with his current wife for 2 years before getting married.
Has formed multiple non-profits for policy study on health and technology issues, has written dozens of books and produced multiple films on the importance of retaining GOD in America. Founded a charity that only gave 11% of it’s collections to the those they collected money to help.  Speaks on religious matters including in 2008 calling Protestants not “Christian”.

Ok.  So Tebow may actually be MORE of a “leader” and “uniter” than Santorum on paper.  But the parallels are uncanny.  Santorum and Tebow fans have more faith in “blind faith” than facts.  DON’T FORGET: PolitiJim is a Tebow fan.  I love my Bears, but with their awful performance (and now overt racism from the supposed “Christian” coach who supports infanticide loving Obama), I’m unwilling to mindlessly support a logo or legacy.

I’ve argued all along that loving Rick Santorum for his Christian image is not only (false) idol worship not born by facts but will have absolutely NO chance of achieving the real goals.  Beating Obama and reversing run away government.

I’ve lost a LOT of followers because of my search and publishing of the “truth” I’ve found, and still am waiting for the first Santorum supporter to supply some object truth about their candidate.  For some reason, most are emotional and hostile rather than reasoned and researched.  (That does nothing to help the public perception of EITHER Santorum or Tebow as brainless “fans” instead of informed and educated Americans.)

Most of the arguments in favor of Rick still come down to Santorum’s faithfulness to his wife.  This, despite the fact, he refused to help other Christian men who reached out to Santorum to intervene with Santorum friends who were sleeping with their wives.  But deep down I suspect we all want the same thing.  For Bronco’s fans – it’s Bronco success.

In any community there are several different types of people - race, creed, religion, male, female. We all co-exist, however, and within our closer-knit community, in our apartment complex, or on our street, or our dorm-room, these relationships co-exist often times because we know where the other people are coming from. You likely have friends that don't believe what you believe socially, or politically, or religiously, or within the sports world. You can get along because you know what is in their heart and they know what is in yours.

For conservatives, it is a REESTABLISHMENT of conservative policy that will turn around government ECONOMICALLY and not be antagonistic to religion.

I don't know what is going to happen today, tomorrow, next season or in the future. I just know that whatever happens, I'll be right here supporting the Denver Broncos.

I think of all us understand the historic corruption and tyrannical threat of Barack Obama.  I don’t doubt all of us will support even Ron Paul, Romney or even Jon Huntsman against Obama once the nominee is chosen.  And I will certainly join my Santorum friends by arguing that he is (much) better than Obama on policy, running government and morality although my arguments will not be quite as persuasive as those with Newt Gingrich (and perhaps even Ron Paul and Romney).

But it doesn’t matter yet.  Today YOU are the GM of your own Conservative Franchise.  If you select the wrong quarterback, you don’t just lose games and attendance revenue.  You likely will loose the entire sport.  So do you choose the quarterback who successfully aided the Reagan Revolution, was passed the Reagan torch by Nancy, EXPANDED conservatism and even while out of office FOUGHT AGAINST TARP, ObamaCare and Cap & Trade – or the quarterback who did (virtually) nothing when it mattered? (Even MediaMatters slammed Gingrich for attacking ObamaCare despite lies by Santorum supporters. Go Google “Santorum ObamaCare” for 2009.  See what you find.)

Proverbs tells us that even a child is known not by what they SAY but by what they do.  Choose wisely with your knowledge. Or (as Jesus said) - perish.

I love the analogy! When I first read of Manning's decision, I was glad for Tebow, (before I knew they would trade him) I thought how good it would be for him to learn from one of the Greats, after all, Manning can't play for ever. That is how I feel about Santorum.
He should be Learning from and trying to help Gingrich! He is no Gingrich and never will be. Had he dropped out after SC, this could be a different race. But his holier then thou rhetoric and truly :-) his Lies have him in a good position for nothing. I wish for him, like I wish for Tebow that they could be good students.

Loved the analogy also. . . then I realized that that's why I believe in Jesus . . . because He did not just talk a good talk but far surpassed all the rest of the religious leaders down through the ages in performance.

It boggles my mind why there are so many people following men who did zero or very few miracles and reject the Son of God Who literally performed tens of thousands of outstanding miracles in the 3 year period He ministered to the people He walked the earth with . . . and 2000 years later, multi-millions of miracles are still happening every year through the prayers of those who believe in Jesus and pray for miracles because they know He is Who He said He is, and He said, "Until now, you've asked nothing in My Name; ask and receive that your joy may be full."

I am in no way saying that Newt is a miracle worker, but to those who think it's going to take a miracle for him to be our next president, I say, "No problem. Stop worrying . . . just pray."

being a great POTUS and a great husband and a great father----- can't be done , Rick. give it a rest !!

Ya know, Unknown, this is the first time I've stopped to consider the point you have made, even though you or others may have made it before. This is no time in our country's history to have a president with a bunch of children in the white house with him.

To take good care of a couple children, although very rewarding, is very time consuming. How on earth could anyone imagine that he could take on the responsibility of being president of the United States in this stressful season and at the same time give his 7 children of all different ages the time, love and discipline each of them are going to need in the next 4 years. You are absolutely right . . . it's impossible.

And Rick Santorum accuses Newt Gingrich of having grandiose thinking?

Sorry but I just do not see Santorum or Romney on defeating Obama; who is challenging Obama on gas price? Who is challenging media oh their hypocrisy on about any issue? Romney and his family sure speak highly of Obama and Santorum endorsed Romney. Who stands against republican establishment? To me the choice is very clear, Newt Gingrich. I rather support Ron Paul than Romney or Santorum. I see only one man who can debate Obama and win the debate. Romney is a godfather of Obama care, so try to defend your own creation, impossible.

Your analogy is very ironic and spot on. I live in Tennessee and proudly voted for Newt. After Alabama and Missippi last week, I told a colleague that southerners would vote for Tim Tebow if he was running for President, because as one of my students said about her vote for Santorum, "He is a Christian, like me."
